Elon Musk may start testing brain implants

More about permission
The American businessman and inventor had been waiting several years for permission to test. Namely, his company Neuralink was ready to start experiments as early as 2020. More precisely, Musk himself claimed back in July 2019 that he was already ready for human clinical trials.
However, as such, an application with a request to grant permission for such testing was issued only at the beginning of 2022. It took quite a long time (more than a year) to obtain the appropriate approvals from the US regulatory authorities.
Since we are talking about testing directly on people, naturally, for this it was necessary to pass numerous checks from the state. For a long time, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could not decide on a verdict. And the thinking of competent persons can be understood.

I would like to believe that the regulatory authority made a balanced decision, assessing all the risks, because we are talking about the technology that allows you to establish direct interaction between a computer and the human brain. As noted in the message of the startup Neuralink, created specifically for such a specific field of activity, the long-awaited approval caused a storm of positive emotions.
However, it is too early to expect big news from the company, because now it can only open a group of volunteers who are ready to provide their brains for clinical trials. And when and how it will end, it is difficult to even guess.
The purpose of creating Neuralink
It is no secret that the owner of a number of projects that are significant for mankind has recently opposed the active development of the field of artificial intelligence. It is all the more surprising that Musk himself wants to experiment with the brain at all.

However, he explains such impulses with noble intentions. Namely, according to the head of Tesla Inc., with the help of special brain implants, it will finally be possible to curb a number of complex diseases that humanity has so far struggled with rather unsuccessfully.
Musk believes his technology will be effective against obesity. Also with the help of implants, he hopes to overcome autism, depression and schizophrenia. Some of the plans to use a computer in combination with the human brain sound absolutely fantastic. For example, a shocking billionaire is sure that telepathy will become the reality, as well as browsing the Internet without the use of external technical means. Moreover, he is allegedly so confident in the safety of the invented solutions that he is ready to use them on his own children.
