Samsung is developing its own chatbot, but we may not see it
Alien chatbot and data leak
A silent battle of chatbots seems to be unfolding in the world: Microsoft's Bing is updated and conquers new platforms, Alibaba announces the development of its own analogue of ChatGPT, capable of conversing in Chinese and English, Huawei has announced a multimodal neural network for corporate clients, and recently Samsung has announced that its developers are preparing to launch a generative language model that can become a competitor to OpenAI AI.
Actually, it was ChatGPT of the specified company that became the reason why Samsung management came to the conclusion that it was necessary to create its own AI. The fact is that the use of the OpenAI chatbot by the employees on their work devices more than once led to the leakage of classified information, which is why in May of this year the staff has been expressly forbidden to discuss any production issues in the chat under the threat of immediate punishment up to and including dismissal.
At first, Samsung tried to negotiate with OpenAI to transfer ChatGPT to a corporate mode for them, but it was not possible to come to an agreement, after which it became obvious: if you want to do something well and safely for company secrets, do it yourself.
In record time
The new chatbot has been developed in collaboration with the Naver online platform since May of this year and, according to Samsung internal sources, should be completed much earlier than the officially announced deadline – in just a couple of months.
The main tasks of AI will be to help company employees develop various software, analyze documentation and translate. In order not to repeat the mistakes made in the past, special attention is paid to the protection of confidential data.
Personal use or global market?
To date, Samsung has not yet decided whether they are going to enter the international market with their product or leave it for the narrow use of the Samsung Device Solutions division, which designs semiconductor equipment.
While it is assumed that the chatbot will communicate in Korean, however, its creators do not deny the possibility of opening access to their creation to a wide audience in the future if the chatbot shows high efficiency and, as a result, competitiveness.
