GAC has demonstrated the concept of a flying car

Details about the concept

Guangzhou Automobile Group says its innovative model will be designed for driving on public roads. In fact, in it the wheelbase will become a kind of take-off platform. Based on it, the driver will be able to take off with the cabin.

The concept, called GOVE, is a four-wheel chassis and single cab design. The main moving part is the main rotor with folding blades (6 sets). When flying is not necessary, the car moves confidently along the road, holding steady on 4 wheels. Optionally, you can carry out a vertical take-off, in which the cabin will come off the wheelbase. Similarly, vertically, a passenger drone lands backwards.

The most interesting thing is that the developers provide remote control of the model. Namely, when creating the concept, they decided to implement a chassis that would respond to remote commands. So, having taken off with the cab, the driver will not lose control over the “take-off platform” on wheels.

Sales start date and price of the flying car

So far, the company has not spoken about when the concept will be reborn into a real car, ready for sale. Also, the manufacturer is not ready to name at least the estimated cost of GOVE. The representative of Guangzhou Automobile Group said only that it would take time to launch the project. And, most likely, it will be needed a lot, given both the technical aspects and bureaucratic difficulties.

So, in China, in principle, there are no norms and standards for the use of flying equipment with people. Despite the fact that China is actively mastering drones, which are used in a variety of industries. Most likely, flying cars will be offered to regions located near the sea and in river deltas, where traffic control is relatively simple.

However, the well-known automaker is not limited to this ambitious project. He also develops other areas, trying to maintain a leading position in the face of fierce competition. Advanced technologies deserve special attention, especially from among hybrids. For example, GAC is preparing to produce cars powered by electric energy combined with a hydrogen engine.
