Samsung plans to start production of the Galaxy Ring smart rings
The popular South Korean internet publication "The Elec," referring to competent sources, announced that the rumors about Samsung's development of the Galaxy Ring smart ring, capable of functioning as a medical device and allowing the owner to control some electronic devices using gestures, now have official confirmation. According to the information currently available, the gadget will be equipped with a heart rate and blood pressure sensor, an electrocardiograph, and other equipment for continuous health monitoring of the user.
Attempts to release similar devices were made more than once in the past. Just recently, Samsung has opened pre-orders for the Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches, which can record ECG, track body temperature and blood oxygen levels, monitor heart activity, and determine the ratio of fat, water, and muscles in the body.
However, since watches and bracelets cannot provide a tight, yet comfortable fit of the gadget to the skin, it is expected that the performance of the Samsung Galaxy Ring smart ring will be much more accurate, and its fit can be adjusted based on finger size. In addition, in theory, the rings will interact with augmented reality glasses that are currently under development.
Among the other advantages of the Galaxy Ring are:
At the same time, there is information that the set of functions of the ring is currently far behind Galaxy Watch 6, and the ability to use the gadget to control TVs and smartphones, though interesting, is unlikely to make people rush to buy the novelty when they can continue to use regular and cheap remote controls for the same purpose.
However, Samsung believes in the great future of its development and, according to rumors, plans to start test production as early as August, although other sources are betting on the first months of 2024. It should be noted that the ring is positioned as a medical device, and therefore, it must go through a strict certification process in each country where the company plans to distribute its product.

Among the other advantages of the Galaxy Ring are:
- Compact size, guaranteeing convenience of wearing and use.
- Longer battery life compared to watches.
- No paid subscription for monthly health data summaries, which is required by Finnish company Oura, which recently has presented a similar product.
