Blue Protocol is leaving and is being reborn in a new quality
Sadly, the dark clouds that have been gathering over the Japanese Blue Protocol lately have not dispersed. Bandai Namco has officially announced that it will close the servers on January 18, 2025 and cancel the launch of regional versions of the game. But it's not all that bad! China's Tencent, which, as it turned out, received the rights to develop the game back in 2023 (or rather, the Bokura studio, partly owned by the tech giant, received them). At the moment, they have already started closed beta testing of the adaptation of Blue Protocol for Android-based mobile devices and for Windows PCs.

It is reported that the new version of the game will undergo many changes, although its creators promise to preserve the spirit and iconic features of the original source. In general, the developers are tasked with making the game more dynamic and attractive to young people in order to expand its audience.

Blue Protocol

What exactly will change:

  • Engine. Unity will take the place of Online Unreal Engine 4 used by the Japanese.
  • Characters. Several new game classes will be added, divided by elements, and the existing ones will receive a more diverse set of skills and additions – for example, it is known that the archer will be accompanied in battles by a battle pet. Also, the main city of Asterliese will become more lively due to the larger number of NPCs.
  • Visual part. For example, the appearance of monsters and POI objects will undergo changes, and character customization is promised to be almost raised to a new level. However, there is information that the quality of the graphics of the mobile version has become worse.
  • Music. The Chinese version will receive its own soundtrack with small references to the original.
  • Cross-platform support between PC and smartphones.

There are also other, less pronounced changes: bosses have become stronger, the number of passages into dungeons where you now need to get weapons has received a daily limit, and the list of accessories has grown.

The test was launched on August 29 and will last at least a week.
