The iconic platformer Blasphemous with a gothic atmosphere has moved to a mobile format for Android
More than 5 years of waiting can make the brightest emotions fade. But not for those who enthusiastically plunged into the dark world of Blasphemous, permeated with motifs of Spanish folklore and Catholic symbols, in the fall of 2019. It was in that September that the fascinating metroidvania (a genre whose foundations were laid by the classic Metroid and Castlevania series) was released on PC and quickly gained an army of fans.
Complex gameplay, a gripping plot and a dark but attractive atmosphere have provided the game with 90% positive reviews on Steam and 77% on the Metacritic aggregator. This in itself says a lot about the merits of Blasphemous.
However, the developers, the Spanish company The Game Kitchen, were strangely in no hurry to port it to smartphones! The first version for Android has appeared on Google Play in 186 countries only now, and owners of iOS mobile devices will have to wait until at least the end of February 2025.
The cost of the Android version is currently $7.99, while in the App Store, where pre-registration is already underway, for some reason it is listed as $6.99.
What gamers will get for this money:
If the mobile versions of the game generate enough interest from gamers, there is a chance that Blasphemous II, which was released on consoles last year, will appear on smartphones in the future. Maybe we won't have to wait five years for it.
