New NFS: Carbon mod provides multiplayer support for up to 30 players
Need for Speed: Carbon is one of the classic games in the racing arcade series from developer EA Black Box and publisher Electronic Arts. It was released back in 2006 and has repeatedly received modifications that have allowed it to remain in demand despite the passage of time. Relatively recently, the game received versions for Android and iOS devices, migrating to the mobile space. However, today's news takes us back to the "roots", since the next global mod is intended for the PC version.
Its main and most interesting feature is the ability to organize online multiplayer races, in which, unlike single missions, players compete for supremacy on the night track with real racing fans from all over the world. Up to 30 gamers can take part in one race. You can play either through the Winlator emulator application, or over a local network (you will need the LAN-game utility) or through Steam Deck, integrated with a Steam account. After joining the server, the player gets a choice - to continue driving around the sleeping city alone or to become a participant in the race. To join other street racers, use "/races". Voice chat is provided for communication, access to which is opened by pressing the "T" key.
In addition to the main online feature, Need for Speed: Carbon received improved car models, modified textures, new tracks and heating levels that determine the status of the car as wanted by the police.
Players who have already tested the modifications advise against installing them on the Redux version, although there have been no official comments on this matter yet.
