Zombies, shooter, NFT: a new game on Android
The world is on the brink, zombies are advancing, and the only way to escape is with a weapon in hand. This is the setting of the new mobile game The Desolation — a zombie action game with survival elements and NFT support, released by the German studio Stratosphere Games. The project is currently at the soft launch stage, but is already available for download in 15 countries, including the USA, Canada and Germany.
The game appeared on the Google Play platform back in December last year, but the updated version of the client has only just been released. It can be downloaded for free, but only in the specified regions. Unfortunately, there is no page in the App Store yet, and the PC version is only available for adding to the wishlist on Steam. At the same time, the developers promise that the release version will have full cross-platform support — players on smartphones and computers will be able to play together.
The Desolation is a so-called twin-stick shooter in a post-apocalyptic setting. Players take on the role of survivors who land in an infected area, fight hordes of zombies and other players, collect resources and try to evacuate without losing their loot. If you die, you lose everything.
The developers have focused on teamwork: you can play alone, but it is best to cooperate with friends and fight off zombies or fight other groups together. The game offers a variety of modes, weapons, armor and a leveling system.
The NFT system deserves special attention. It is neatly integrated: in-game items and customization elements can be linked to the blockchain. According to the developers, this is done for the convenience of collecting and exchanging, but does not affect the game balance. Stratosphere Games emphasizes that they are not making NFTs a central part of the project, but are simply using the technology as an addition to the core gameplay.
